How has the expansion of all of our wonderful mental health services been working out? The more categorical services we provide the more problems we create.

A couple of remarks:

First, in the last sentence of your next-to-last paragraph, I believe you meant to say "bear responsibility" rather than "bare responsibility." However, I suppose "bare responsibility" in this context could be understood to mean that the counselors do not want to reveal their responsibility for the bad advice they offer to children.

Second, I find it troubling to learn that the 988 Suicide Hotline is federally funded and, I presume, federally run. Is this an attempt to consolidate all of the existing crisis and suicide hotlines into one central, federally approved system? The 988 number is widely promoted in schools and different media outlets. I'd be interested in your thoughts on that.

lol, I changed the typo. Thanks for being my editor. (I don't have one)

Yes, 988 is very concerning. Suicide hotlines are not helpful anymore. The government also promotes The Trevor Project, which is a cesspool for predators. I plan to do a piece on them soon.

I’m glad to be of help.

Almost every YouTube video that offers criticism of “affirming care” for minors comes with a blue box notice with a link to The Trevor Project.

I would be interested in any further information or thoughts you have on the subject of crisis and suicide help lines or on the 988 line in particular. Perhaps you could consider writing a piece on that as well.

My child was groomed by her English teacher into believing all the trans lies. English teacher was the school sponsor for the GLAD club at school and offered all kids chocolate chip cookies just to attend. So, my kid with documented learning disabilities gets boarded on the Trans Train. The school counselor (State of CA) had to go along with the trans narrative or lose her job. This was 2018.

Parents were painted as evil and stupid. Co-morbid issues were completely ignored.

It is very disturbing to notice how thrilled the English teacher was to have found such a great source to fuel her own notoriety (the “Savior” of all kids LGBTQ) and to have newfound expertise (how to counsel any kid who is uncomfortable with challenges into being trans). At least the counselor in this case was not as enthusiastic about “treating without a license”.

Thank you so very much, Pam, for sharing your wisdom.

I agree with most of what you said, but we can't ignore the fact that accessing and paying for children's (and adult) mental health services is cost-prohibitive, a nightmare to navigate and good resources are scarce for the average family. We have to recognize that our government used schools to take up the slack (and in doing so can dictate the terms). It's also understandable that parents would acquiesce to on-site counseling as it gives them a convenient and free alternative to a terrible bureaucratic medical system. While I'm all for limiting the power of school counselors and conducting a deep dive into the effectiveness and results of SEL, we must also revamp the way our pharma-run mental health industry conducts itself and offer parents a valid alternative.

Thank you!!!! I worked in after school.programs and we regularly hired people who were social-emotional wrecks to help kids. It doesn't work.

You are 100% correct that they are ideologically indoctrinated and motivated. They are biased, hateful, and learned that they are victims and to teach children to be victims. It is antithetical to Brown v Board, the Civil Rights Act, Protected Classes, and as you rightly point out, it continues to wedge between kids and their families (grooming).

We only get these kids because we paid shit and had little experience to adequately provide oversight (I am a cinema major, for instance).

"This is an image from the ASCA magazine promoting affirmation of transgenderism for elementary school students. The caption says 'Discussions about transgender, nonbinary and gender-expansive students typically focus on high school students, but we can’t ignore our youngest students.' "

No school employee or contractor should be having "[d]iscussions about transgender, nonbinary and gender-expansive students" or any other topic related to gender identity ideology with any student in K-12. For that matter, the gender ghouls over at the American School Counseling Association and their ilk in the nonprofit and NGO world shouldn't be allowed to come within a mile of any students, especially the youngest ones.

The "trans kid" is a myth. Most gender nonconforming kids will grow up to be gay if they're insulated from gender ideology.

As for other kids the adults treasure for being "transgender, nonbinary and gender-expansive," they're doing it because it is super cool and edgy; because they have been pushed into it by their virtue-signaling trans ally parents; because they've been influenced by peers and social media; because they're budding cross-dressing male fetishists and/or because they are mentally ill, or some combination of the above.

I had no idea that this was the main conduit for Marxist ideology being taught to today’s students.

What an affront to every parent who cares.

This needs to stop‼️

They are creating more problems than they seek to address.

What a sham.

I have seen this, as well, 22 years teaching for a large school district. I’m also an LMFT in private practice. Thank you for putting words to this dangerous and growing trend. I hadn’t put my concerns into a well verbalized explanation and very much welcome yours. 🙏🏽
